M.E.E.T Your Toolkit
During our time together, we will make recommendations using the acronym: MEET. We like to call this MEET, your Toolkit. When using all the tools in the toolkit, you will get faster, more efficient results & have a happier, healthier kitty.
Management

Management includes things to do right now to curb undesired behaviors & prevent unwanted habits from forming.
Examples:
Cat-proof barriers
Automatic feeders
Covering scratched furniture
Blocking access to unwanted potty spots
Environment

Environment focuses on helping our cats feel safe and fulfilled. We reduce stress, provide for species-specific needs, and give choice. We include physical health here because we are addressing both external (surroundings) and internal environment (the body).
Examples:
“Prey play” sessions & food puzzles
Cat trees & shelves
Scratching posts
Medical check-ups for pain & discomfort
Education

This is education for you. We bust myths and teach you about acceptable cat behaviors vs. truly problematic behaviors.
Examples:
Scratching is a natural behavior for many reasons that is necessary for every cat’s physical and mental health. We’ll show you how to save your furniture, though.
A cat showing their belly to you is a sign of trust but does NOT mean “pet me here”
Cats have very particular needs for their indoor environment, and they don’t like sharing things with animals they aren’t bonded to. We will help set up your home so that everyone feels safe and comfortable.
Training

Only after addressing the first three points do we focus on teaching your cat something new.
Examples of what your cat may learn:
That my feline housemate means great things
That jumping on the counter does not mean I get yummy scraps or attention
That my carrier is safe and cozy
